A very personal story.

Since visiting Gettysburg recently, I read this book as a follow up to see a more personal view of the battle. This book was very informative and an interesting read. I will look for others of this style on other war stories in the future.

Worth It

Expected more volume and substance but a quick read and from a key participant and witness to the peak moment of Pickets - Pettigrew Charge which makes it a "must" read to the serious Civil War student.

An excellent description of the battle at Gettysburg

Colonel Haskell gives readers a very readable account of the three day battle at Gettysburg. This book also containes a very good introduction, preface, and many comments by generals and others about Haskell who died during the battle of Cold Harbor.
